Over the course of this academic year, I have been delighted to support the Initial Teacher Training programme at Greenwich university with a two partnership lectures. The first, titled ‘Phonics to fluency’ focused on some common misconceptions about phonics and how to move from on to deliberately developing reading fluency. In the second, we talked about curriculum coherence and why it matters. The students were, as always, a credit to the university. The future of the sector looks positive with these young people coming into it.
